GAN (Gippsland Agroforestry Network)

An official web-site for the Gippsland Agroforestry Network Landcare Sub-group of the Latrobe Catchment Landcare Network.

Under the auspices of the Latrobe Catchment Landcare Network, GAN is a Special Interest sub-group of people interested in producing, converting and marketing farm-grown timber. While set up under the LCLN its members have come from all over Gippsland, from Melbourne to Orbost, from Loch to Maffra and from Erica to Yarram. GAN is associated with Forestry Australia, a national body representing productive tree growing and based in Canberra. There is a wide skill base represented by the members.

The group first started in the early 1990’s as a non-aligned group and later joined Australian Forest Growers. Australian Forest Growers has since amalgamated with the Institute of Foresters, Australia to form Forestry Australia. In 2014 the group also aligned with the Landcare movement as a special interest group within the Latrobe Catchment Landcare Network. The group comprises farmers, foresters, business people, investors, researchers and people with a like interest.  It is not area based but services all of Gippsland.
